Review by Lynne

As a life long fan of Freddie Mercury and Queen, I wasn’t sure what to expect.

The movie kicks off with scenes of Wembley where fans were expecting an awesome gig. Live Aid was the biggest thing ever organised. Rami Malek cast to play Freddie appears, and I’m thinking he looks the part.

As the film takes us through the early Queen years , with a soundtrack that gets you singing along. The actors that played Brian, John and Roger were very convincing in their roles.
There were quite a few inaccuracies in the timeline of events , but it didn’t take any enjoyment away.
There were lots of bitter sweet moments throughout, and some comedy moments too.  Mike Myers as Ray Foster EMI executive had some brilliant moments.
Malek’s performance was amazing , funny, sad and sensitive – the Golden Globe, Oscar and BAFTA for Best Actor well deserved.
The movie also won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, as well as BAFTAs and Oscars for Best Film, Best Sound and Best Editing among others.

The climax of the film was Live Aid and it was as if you were actually there. I watched Live Aid at the time and without a doubt Queen were back big style! This recreation was spot on.

If you’re a Queen fan it is fabulous , if you’re a music fan it is definitely worth a look.
